Instagram Ready: 3 Cape Cod Harbors

Whether you are a full-on photophile, or a snapper of casual shots, you won’t want to be without your camera (phone, for most of us) during your stay on Cape Cod.

While on the Cape, you won’t have trouble finding photo-worthy subjects–from the ocean to the bay and everywhere in between. From flora, fauna and fins to the boiled lobster on your dinner plate, you will likely capture plenty of photos to post online, print, or stow away.

Need a subject or location that is sure to please? Look no further than one of Cape Cod’s magnificent harbors. Any time of the day you will be able to capture some stunning photos. From day break to sunset, the Cape’s harbors are full of very photographic activity.

Here are three Cape Cod harbors for the perfect Instagram post:

1. Wellfleet Harbor – Wellfleet Harbor has it all. Good parking, a very cool gallery (The Frying Pan Gallery), delicious food (Mac’s on the Pier, The Pearl, The Bookstore), endless activity and absolutely, stunning sunsets. There is even a walking path around the pier if you want to work off some of that ice cream from Mac’s. Bonus: hit the pier on a Wednesday during the summer and do some square dancing!

2. Rock Harbor – Don’t miss Rock Harbor in Orleans. Like Wellfleet Harbor, Rock Harbor has parking and great activity–watch the fishing vessels and pleasure craft enter and exit the harbor all day. If you are feeling a bit peckish, grab some fresh seafood at Cap’t Cass. Love history? You will want to check out the CG36500 Lifeboat. And of course, when you think harbor, you think trees–or at least you do in Orleans where pines mark the channel. Then there are the sunsets. Gorgeous sunsets punctuated by the trees and set against the flats. Bonus: If you hit it right around July 4th, you might even see fireworks.

3. Sesuit Harbor – Much like Wellfleet Harbor and Rock Harbor, Sesuit Harbor has it all. Here in Dennis, you will find busy boating activity (check out the fun boat names), amazing sunsets, Sesuit Harbor Cafe–a favorite eatery of locals and visitors alike and a highly photo-worthy channel and jetty. Bonus: if you have a free afternoon or early evening, book a Lobster Roll Cruise. Tour the harbor and yes, eat an incredible lobster roll.
